Piano Trio No. 2 in C major, Op. 87 by Johannes Brahms

This piano trio was completed in 1882, scored for piano, violin and cello. Brahms began work on this and his other piano trio (in E flat) in 1880, but focused his efforts on completing the trio in E flat after presenting the pair to Clara Schumann. After completing a piano concerto and a symphony, Brahms would finally finish the Trio in C major in 1882 while on holiday in the Austrian town of Bad Ischl, east of Salzburg. The premiere performance of this Trio was given in December of 1882 in Frankfurt.

This trio is comprised of four movements:
I. Allegro moderato
II. Andante con moto
III. Scherzo: Presto
IV. Finale: Allegro giocoso
