The New Year's Eve Riots in Connewitz

Every New Year's Eve we have a couple of riots across the country. This year Connewitz, a borough of Leipzig, was in the spotlight. Not only was one of the victims attacked in a particularly brutal fashion, the backing from media and mainstream politicians for the rioters was epic. Although no specific allegation was made against the police, the blame was swiftly shifted on the police forces who responsibly did their job. The background is an antifa style militia milieu that had been left free to flourish, or fester, for years and is visibly spiralling out of control. The vicious attack that sent the policeman to hospital for three days was only the most recent case of a long string of worsening crimes.
