007 TECH: "DIE ANOTHER DAY": Invisible Tanks?
Is it possible to make an Aston-Martin invisible? How about a tank used in war?

Commander Ian Fleming RNVR (1939-1951) knew from his WW2 experiences that recce units have to remain undetected to gain intelligence on the enemy--and not alert him. He wrote about camouflage and hide sites in such stories like "A View to a Kill". As an expert with a keen eye towards emerging technologies, he would already know the answer to the question can tanks be made invisible?
Watch the video and see the answer--or not see the answer--unfold.

BAE Systems to use E-ink for invisible tanks
by Darren Allan
E-ink isn't just something which can be used for the displays of e-readers such as the Kindle and bedfellows.
In fact, scientists with BAE Systems are proposing to use it in a very novel manner -- on the battlefield, with the British Army's tanks.
The idea is to clad the tank's body with E-ink, which is used in conjunction with cameras. The cameras will capture the scenery on one side of the vehicle, which will then be displayed via the E-ink surface on the opposite side.
The result should be a tank which blends in with the background scenery, making it largely invisible, or that's the theory. The image would be updated constantly to keep blending in with the scenery. Clever stuff.
This concept is still very much in the early stages, and there are certainly issues which need to be ironed out, in terms of exactly how the e-camouflage would be mounted, particularly on the front of the tank.
According to an article in the Telegraph, a prototype vehicle is expected to be developed by 2015.
Of course, we already have invisible planes in the armed forces -- the ones on board the new aircraft carriers.

Commander Ian Fleming RNVR 1939-51 wrote the James Bond 007 books/movies for the Information Research Division (IRD) of MI6-SIS who he worked for as a Master Spy under journalistic cover from 1933-39 and 1945-1964 when he was murdered (as concluded by legendary investigative reporter, Jim Marrs to me) to prevent him publicly condemning the Warren Commission white wash of the CIA's group ambush murder of his friend, President John F. Kennedy.
