Another Duke Hoax: Rachel Richardson LIED About BYU Racial Slur Incident

Last week, Duke volleyball player Rachel Richardson complained about hearing a BYU fan at the Duke/BYU volleyball game allegedly berating her with racial slurs each time she served the ball. After getting the referees, coaches, players, and police involved, BYU subsequently conducted a thorough investigation of the accused fan, other fans at the game, and both teams. Yet beyond Richardson's accusation, there was zero evidence found that her story was true. After a week, the story has been essentially buried, but the reputation of BYU, its volleyball program, and its students is damaged. Will there be apologies from Duke University, media figures, sportswriters, and volleyball coaches who immediately accepted the story? What about Richardson herself? Will she be punished for spreading a harmful lie? And is the the kind of country we want to live in where any black person can make any accusation about racism to destroy someone's life, school, or business, and no one can defend themselves or question the accusation for fear of also being ruined?
