I agree avoiding meat can be challenging, but so is much else that is worthwhile. Master Sheng Yen invokes the idea of karma, retribution, and future lives. In my experiences I know that those high in this world are Satanic in that they don't believe in karma, are very selfish, and enjoy being evil. Of course it follows they don't mind or find satisfaction in torturing animals for food.
