There are good and bad ways to respond to someone with whom you disagree. When taking the more loving route, one seeks to understand why someone else feels the way they do.
When dealing with a person who makes a living off of being a victim, responding with dislike and perhaps hatred only empowers them more. Recently, Anita Sarkeesian expressed her dislike for The Mandalorian TV show in Disney+. She was disappointed that the women barely had speaking parts. Sure, she is splitting hairs and trying to get her followers up in arms, but responding with name calling only elevates her cause and position. Just how much money did the Fandom Menace raise for Anita Sarkeesian during this Twitter exchange?
It is understandable that Star Wars fans want to push back against Anita Sarkeesian and The Feminist Frequency, but doing so in anger only furthers their cause. To them, every male is a part of the Patriarchy and every woman who agrees or supports the Patriarchy has internal misogyny. Take a moment and meet the Feminist at the emotional level and let them express why they feel oppressed that there is a male bar tender in Star Wars The Mandalorian. Move the expression of Why toward the How and then facts can be introduced. Fighting an emotional state with a fact based argument never works and will never convince someone such as Anita Sarkeesian they are incorrect. Express a real desire to learn, make a connection, and then bring them to understanding.
