orlared: Jordanian man accused of child-grooming in Swords, Dublin (Ireland)
orlared: Jordanian man accused of child-grooming in Swords, Dublin (Ireland)
A Jordanian man has been accused of child-grooming in Swords, Co. Dublin. A facebook group called Child Protection Awareness Ireland confronted the man outside a gym where he said he was volunteering during a livestream. The gym accepts children as young as five years old, the Jordanian man said who was named as Ali.
Louise, the woman who was recording the livestream accused the Jordanian of grooming a 15 year old girl. The girl's father said Ali had offered her private lessons and told her she could pay him in "five good hugs". Ali added her on the YoBu app which is for under 18s. His username on the app was Sammy17.
He asked the 15 year old girl to call her Daddy and added her on snapchat too. There, he said he was 23, then 29 and finally 33.
He admits in the video he is 39 year old but when he saw she was taking screen shots of his messages, he started deleting them.
In the messages he was asking her kisses and hugs and wanted to take her for dinner and was also asking her for pictures. He sent the girl a voice message saying "I love you."
Ali says he is originally from Jordan and is on a visitor's visa in Ireland. He says he was only volunteering at Muay Thai centre, not working.
Louse told him she saw him doing private lessons with a 9 year old in a picture on on the Gym's facebook page.
The man also said he was not Gardaí vetted despite working and that he'd been in the country for five months.
He says he came to Ireland with his wife and has two children who are at home in Jordan aged 5 and 8.
He says he brought €10,000 into Ireland.
He says he and his wife were looking for a better place to move to and were considering applying for citizenship in Ireland but that he is still testing the country. He complains that Ireland has no sun.
His friend who owns the gym is from Algeria who he met in the Pavillion shopping centre two months previously. His wife had since moved back to Jordan after spending two weeks in Ireland. She came back for another two weeks some time later, he says.
He says that if the accusations of grooming are true then she wouldn't be happy.
At one point in the video, when he is asked for his phone, it his thought that Ali instructs his friend to hide it in Arabic and tells Louise that he only uses the Gym's phone.
Planning permission for an Islamic prayer and cultural centre in Swords, north Co Dublin, has recently been approved by Fingal County Council.
