Yesterday, President Trump announced a new set of 10% on Chinese goods just one day after Federal Reserve Chairman, Jerome Powell, announced a hawkish rate cut. Trump's new tariffs were almost certainly a direct response to Powell's performance yesterday which "let us down" according to the President. The intention here being that more trade turbulence will encourage the Fed to cut rates to compensate. Trump is playing Powell like a fiddle.
