Nilton Ferreira, professor, fighter and Judo black belt, had a heart attack while fighting in a competition in Pindamonhangaba, on the coast of São Paulo, this Friday (18).

After being rescued by a team from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU), he was taken to the hospital and remains in the ICU in serious condition.
The Brazilian Judo Confederation reported that the 2023 Brazilian Veterans Championship is officially canceled and that two judokas who participated in the event suffered sudden illnesses and, unfortunately, one of them did not resist, dying.
“The competition complied with all safety requirements, such as a medical team, advanced service ambulance (Mobile ICU) and insurance. The entire immediate relief protocol and transfer to the reference hospital was carried out by the organization”, says the Confederation.
