String Sextet in D minor, Op. 70 "Souvenir de Florence" - Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

Tchaikovsky completed this work for violin, viola and cello in 1890, with the premiere performance being given in 1892. Tchaikovsky composed the work on behalf of the St. Petersburg Chamber Music Society in gratitude of becoming an Honorary Member. The subtitle ‘Souvenir de Florence’ was given by the composer due to him beginning work on the composition while on a holiday to Florence.

This sextet is comprised of four movements:
I. Allegro con spirito
II. Adagio cantabile e con moto
III. Allegretto moderato
IV. Allegro con brio e vivace
