If you have two folders and you want to combine them into one, you can just paste the contents of one into the other...right? Well, on sane systems like Windows and Linux, that's exactly how you would do it, but Finder on Mac OS X offers to DELETE your existing folders and replace them! The OS has been around for over 10 years, yet something as fundamental as recursive merging of folders isn't implemented in the interface. There are workarounds but they all really suck; ditto and rsync copy, not move, and they don't handle name collisions.

I like Macs in general but today they are definitely on my most hated list.
