Politics & Prose: Annie Jacobsen on Operation Paperclip

OPERATION PAPERCLIP was a secret American program in which more than 1,600 German scientists, engineers, and technicians, such as Wernher von Braun and his V-2 rocket team, were taken from Germany to the United States, for U.S. government employment in technology fields, primarily between 1945 and 1959. Many were former members, and some were former leaders, of the NSDAP and even the SS.

It and similar operations that transferred technologies developed in Germany are argued to have contributed to many postwar technological developments, particularly in computing and space exploration. Combined they were a small example of the plundering of Germany after the war.

(((Mainstream))) author Annie Jacobsen talks about her book OPERATION PAPERCLIP. Her presentation is marred by the hostility and mendacity typical of "mainstream" authors on topics surrounding the events of World War Two, but because of the subject matter, this talk is interesting, none-the-less.
