Oh god, not this Venezuela shtick again. Look.
1) Venezuela's economy is literally 2/3 capitalist. (privately owned) The other 1/3rd is nationalized. (government owned) What percentage of industry is owned by the workers of industry? 0% I don't care how many times their leaders described themselves as socialist, that's most certainly not socialism. Even that 1/3rd of nationalized economy isn't socialist.
2) Venezuela collapsed around the 80s under a right wing government as well, but people love to forget that little bit of history. The reason for both collapses is dropping oil prices. Oil is their main export. It generates almost all of their income. It would have crashed no matter if it was the left populist social democracy that it was, or if it was socialist, fascist, or capitalist.
Gotta love it when people ignore capitalist countries crashing, but when a country that claims to be socialist crashes everybody's all over it, regardless if the economy was actually socialist or not, and regardless of the context surrounding it. That's insanely intellectually dishonest.
