Infamous 1970s London Squatters Of Elgin Avenue 20 Years On - with Piers Corbyn (1995)
AUDIO TRACK SYNC CORRECTED
original video https://youtu.be/lgFiTTWA4p4
Here's the rushes from a gathering of London's squatting community in 1995 to mark 20 years since the Elgin Avenue stand-off in 1975 - successful resistance to eviction by the GLC from a street of large town houses in West London. Piers Corbyn (interviewed here), Jeremy Corbyn's brother, lived there, as did an early version of The Clash, called the 101ers.
With a screening of rare videos from the time, including an eviction of Camden High Street in 1974, and Germany - with tanks, plus Wally Hope talking at the Watchfield Festival.
