Gunnail (1993, Arcade)

Gunnail is a vertically scrolling shoot'em up developed by NMK and published by Tecmo. It was only released in the arcades.

The weapon system is rather standard. there are three types of weapons which can be upgraded by collecting P-symbols. You have a number of bombs at your disposal which have a large, yet limited radius. You only have one life, but you have several shields. While loosing a shield is mostly similar to loosing a life in other games, you can gain additional shields by scoring enough points. These additional shields will also last if you use a continue.
There are several levels with a time limit. If time runs out, the level is completed. The goal is get as far as possible in the level to defeat as many enemies and score as many points as possible. Some enemies in these levels will leave behind a power-up which increases your speed temporarily. You can use these to get through the level faster.
