"We Are The World" is an idealized song composed by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, recorded on January 28, 1985 by 45 of the biggest names in North American music, in the project known as USA for Africa. The project aimed to raise funds to fight hunger on the African continent. Inspired by Live Aid, a festival organized by Irish musician Bob Geldof, which brought together dozens of world music stars, Jackson and Richie summoned a supergroup of artists at the time.
