Michelangelo - Endless is a biographical documentary directed by Emanuele Imbucci on the life and works of Michelangelo Buonarroti, produced in 2018 by Sky and Magnitudo Film, in collaboration with the Vatican Museums. Audio in Italian with English subtitles.
The film portrays the life and works of the absolute genius of universal art: Michelangelo Buonarroti, a shy and restless man and artist on the one hand and at the same time capable of great courage in upholding his beliefs and ideologies. The spectator is led into the world of the artist (from historical reconstructions to works) through the two protagonists, Michelangelo Buonarroti and Giorgio Vasari. The latter, a famous art historian, artist and architect. At the same time Michelangelo, in a conceptual limbo represented by a Carrara marble quarry (- one of those in which he worked to extract his marbles), recalls the main points of his life, with the torments and crucial moments of his existence.
The passionate interpretations of the two protagonists thus accompany the viewer to the beating heart of the film: the story of the works. We find Bacchus, the Vatican Pietà, the David, the Tondo Doni, the Prisons and the Moses, the Vault of the Sistine Chapel and the Last Judgment, the Medici Chapels and the secret hiding place, the Pietà Rondanini, accompanied by insights entrusted to the narrating voice and curated by Prof. Vincenzo Farinella (former scientific consultant for the film Raphael - the Prince of the Arts).
Michelangelo Buonarroti is played by Enrico Lo Verso, while Giorgio Vasari is played by Ivano Marescotti.
