Will Warming The Thermal Mass Make A Difference

A viewer had suggested that, the thermal mass might work better if it had been collecting heat all summer long. I was curious what would happen if I warmed the water up in it and just seen if it could hold the water at a higher temp or if it would go back down to the mid 30's temps it has been holding at all winter.
