Conquestador (Spoils of War) (1992, C64)

Conquestador is strategy game by German Design Group. It also came out for PC and Amiga, and these ports were published in English under the name Spoils of War. As far as I know, the C64 release did not have an official English translation. The game is about colonizing a new continent and bears same semblance to Sid Meier's Colonization, which came out two years later. However, the game's setting does not takes place on Earth, but on fictitious planet with its own timeline and history instead. The gameplay is centred around the eponymous Conquestadors, of which there are three types, Admirals, Governors and Generals. Governors can take colonists with the them and are needed to found colonies. Admirals command ships and are thus needed to transport everyone and everything between the capital and the new continent. Generals command ground troupes and are thus needed to either defend your own colonies or attack rivals. The gameplay is turn-based and divided into different phases. Each type of Conquestador has his own phase, and in the game mixes each player's moves during the Conquestador phases. Most actions require either gold and/or supply goods, which you have to assign to your Conquestadors.
The game can be played with up to four human or computer players.
