Eisenhower coined in his farewell address the "Military-Industrial Complex," which since the end of WWII has expropriated an estimated $15 Trillion in American taxpayer money for "Defense" spending. That, as author Joel Andreas notes, "is more than the amount of money spent on all the existing man-made wealth of the US: that is every building, highway, park, factory, car, and what have you."
