A old but well maintained forgotten temple on the banks of the Chaophraya River in Nonthanaburi.
Wat Khian is an old temple built in 1780, before the establishment of Rattanakosin (Bangkok), the whole temple has only one small ordination hall. The hall has a very beautiful architectural style. It has a stucco pediment made of clay with intricate patterns and Chinese ceramic plates incorporated in the designs.
The foundation structure is built on ancient wooden logs but it has stayed in tact for more than 200 years.
In addition to the old Ayutthaya style ordination hall there are several shrines and a brilliant white Buddha on the river bank. It’s a nice sight for passengers traveling by boat as they pass the temple.
