The TYCHOS is my revised model of our Solar System. Its basic configuration is based on the model conceived by Tycho Brahe - arguably the greatest observational astronomer of all times. After his untimely death in 1601 (at age 55), Tycho Brahe's favorite assistant Christen Longomontanus perfected his master's lifetime work in his Astronomia Danica (1622), a monumental treatise regarded as Tycho Brahe’s “testament”. a cool thing to do with the Tychosium is to turn on:
1) helper objects: Stars, Star names, and Polar Line.
2) Trace: the Sun
3) set the controls to: 1sec.=1000 years
4) Use the mouse to move the view so you are loooking from the south and the polar line is pointing at Polaris.
hit run.
From this view, you are loooking at the system from the south so things are opposite of how we usually discuss them. (the sun is going clockwize and the procession is happening counter clockwize from this perspective.) you can see the entire solar system processing around the barycenter.
Now turn off the tracing of the Sun
If you set what you are looking at, under controls, to the Sun instead of the barycenter. You can now see how if this was a heliocentric system all the stars would have to move in a group, around the Sun.
If you set what you are looking at to the Earth you can see the stars mooving in regular "slow" procession like we see from earth.
