Spheroids is a shoot'em up game. It was made by German developer Parsec Entertainment. The game does not scroll, each level takes places on a single screen. You control a round spaceship with a cannon and have to fend off/ survive waves of enemies. Once all enemies have passed or have been shot, the level is completed and you have the options to visit a merchant before starting the next level. The merchant offers power-ups for your ships which you can buy from the money destroyed enemies leave behind. During levels, you can move your ship in 8 directions. You have a cannon to shoot enemies, which you can rotate freely around your ship in both directions. The game loops after six levels, with enemies becoming faster, tougher and increasing in numbers. You keep the power-ups you have bought throughout the game, and you may save your game after every sixth level.
