Militia Logistics- Militia Unit Food Collection, Donations For Disasters

Some militia units across the country have instituted a food collection program. The program is meant to gather up bulk food items for use post-disaster or after the unit goes operational. The items are handed to the unit Quartermaster when each militiaman arrives for training. The Quartermaster marks down on a sheet who arrived and handed in their donation. For units where it is mandatory if someone shows up without a bulk food item they are told which stores in the area have a particular item on sale for that week (who has the cheapest nearby) and what the price is. The militiamen then goes, purchases the item, and returns for training. Each person buys what they can afford. Some may buy or donate a 5 gal. bucket of wheat from their recent purchase from their survival supplies. Some may bring in a case of MREs they recently got at a good price. Most will bring in #10 cans of grocery items or 20lb. bag of white rice. All is helpful for feeding large numbers of people. Items you preserved yourself must be inspected and approved by the Quartermaster for acceptance. The items must have a decent shelf life and not go rancid within a couple months.
