Multiple school districts in Oregon are reconsidering having their students participate in the state's "Battle of the Books" next school year, because of a book about a 'transgender girl'.

School District officials said they are taking the book "George" under consideration with a group of parents and teachers to decide what, if anything, to do. The book was selected in the state's annual "Battle of the Books" program for 3rd through 5th grade students.

The book tells a coming of age story of a fourth-grader boy who eventually learns to become 'herself' and come out as a 'transgender girl'.
