One additional point is that trying to get the culprits to understand the errors of their ways would be totally futile, like an Isaac Newton trying to communicate with seek-and-destroy terminators. There's a communication barrier I think most don't properly understand. You just can't expect things to be what they are not, and you shouldn't be projecting onto others who and what you are.
