15 miles (24 km) south-southwest of the Washington dc
2 people witnessed 7 objects ONLY on a radarscope
2 others did the same 7 saw lights that took off, zooming away at incredible speed
then many other objects appeared in all sectors of the radarscope including over
the White House and the United States Capitol
10 miles away Andrews Air Force Base said no radar contacts existed
in the tower Airman William Brady saw an "object which appeared to be
like an orange ball of fire, trailing a tail & took off at an unbelievable speed
Capital Airlines pilot S.C. Pierman, spotting what he believed to be a meteor & observed six white, tailless, fast-moving light objects over a 14-minute period.
& these made a pip on radar
Andrews Air Force Base control tower personnel now tracked on radar
& were able to prove, some of this was caused by stars and meteors
, Staff Sgt. Charles Davenport saw an orange-red light to the south that
"would appear to stand still, then make an abrupt change in direction and altitude repetedly
then both radar centers tracked an object hovering over a radio beacon that vanished
3 a.m. all of the objects vanished from the radar as 2 F-94 Starfire jet fighters
arrived over Washington, from United States Air Force New Castle Air Force Base Delaware but when the jets ran low on fuel and left, the objects returned,
Captain Roy James an Air Force radar specialist felt that unusual weather conditions could have caused the unknown radar targets & told this to USAF Captain Edward J. Ruppelt,
the supervisor of the Air Force's Project Blue Book investigation into UFO sightings,
