It works at first and The Narrator praises its functionality, but the more we press it, the longer the skips each time. During the skip, The Narrator is left alone by himself waiting for us to respond. Eventually the exit door disappears and The Narrator goes a little mad from the loneliness. He criticizes the writers of those bad reviews for making him feel this way and giving in thinking a skip button was a good idea. He even wonders if he exists at one point. This is an excellent question. If a Narrator speaks and a Player isn't around to hear him or read the subtitles, does he even exist? As we continue to press the skip button, time passes, The Narrator goes silent, the house plant in the room dies, the electricity goes out, the clock falls off the wall, the pipes start leaking, part of the roof collapses, plants grow, then dust settles, and the room deteriorates more and more until an opening we can climb out emerges. We step outside to see that everything has been reduced to a desert wasteland. How long have we been gone?!
