WAIT TILL YOUR FATHER GETS HOME, the only successful, animated sitcom in the 27 year gap between the FLINTSTONES and SIMPSONS, progresses to its 41st regular episode...
Harry concludes that way too much television is diverting his family from real life, so he tries to shut off the tubes... When this proves to be impossible due to the saturation of TV in modern society, he tries to take the family on a wilderness vacation to get a break. But there seems to be a lack of available wilderness available!
The Boyles appear to have at least five TV sets, which was a bit much for early 1970s households. Also more channels to choose from than we had at the time, but I reckon California may have been ahead of the curve. Jamie's battery-powered portable was borderline science-fiction for the era.
If Harry thought five screens for the family and half a dozen channels were a problem, imagine how he would have reacted to 2021, with screens EVERYWHERE, including in everyone's pockets, hundreds of channels, and near infinite programming from Internet streaming services, etc.
From January, 1974.
