Handel likely completed this organ concerto in 1739, with the premiere performance being given at the Kings Theatre in London in 1749. The prevalence of sections allowing the performer to essentially improvise during the performance may be due to the deterioration of vision Handel was experiencing at the time.

This concerto is comprised of four movements:
I. Larghetto
II. Allegro
III. Larghetto
IV. Allegro
