Nakhon Phanom is a littleknown border town in the north east of Zthailand. This region is known as Issan. It has much to offer to tourists that make their way here.
In addition to its centuries old history, ancient temples and bustling Indochina Market, this northeastern province has cruises along the Mekong River.
By taking a cruise, tourists can enjoy the scenery of both Thailand and Laos while leisurely going up and down this important waterway.
Starting at the pier in front of the Indochina Market at around 5pm and it heads northward so that tourists can see the riverside communities and admire the sunset behind the lone Christian church in the old town of Nakhon Phanom. Officially known as St Anna Catholic church, its history dates back to 1926.
Tourists can then get close to the Lao side and take a peek at the neighboring country’s lush land.
The cruise takes about one hour. Fees are just 50 Baht per adult and 20 Baht per child. This excludes the cost of food and beverages that tourists may order during the ride.
The cruise is a good way to see the life along the river. There are other tours that offer dinner or just sightseeing. For 50 Baht this is a good value.
