Deuteronomy 6:17 (RSB) ~ Ye shall diligently "KEEP" the commandments of Yahweh your Elohim, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.
Let's see if we have a Hebrew mind as pertains to the Hebrew word Shamar
Strong's #8104 is often translated as keep in most bibles. Is this entirely wrong?
The TS2009 Hebrew roots / sacred name bible likes to use the word "Guard"
Does Shamar only mean to "guard" something or is there more to the story?
Assembly of Yahweh elder Teddy Wilson ( of Seekers of Yahweh's Ministries ) claims the only valid translation of Shamar is guard or protect. He says we need to understand these Hebrew words from the culture of the people who lived at that time and place. I agree 100%. Today we go back to the ancient kings of Israel ( who had concubines ) to see how the Hebrew word Shemar was used.
Do we just guard the Feast of Unleavened bread or do we also perform it?
Do we only guard the Feast of Sukkot ( Tabernacles ) or do we observe it?
All you really have to do is look at the context of how the Hebrew word Shamar is used in the Tanakh ( Hebrew bible ) in order to determine it's full meaning. You don't need to be an expert in ancient Hebrew to understand how this Hebrew word is used. Bottom line... there is a very broad (wide) scope of meaning when it comes to this Hebrew word. It is undeniable. Here is the proof!
