First Start This Year - 1970 Monte Carlo 410cu.in. (6.8 L) SBC 30-30 Duntov Cam

She's been sitting in storage for several months in the garage during the coldest months of winter and I had to fix a leaking intake gasket among other things. This is the first real start up to operating temperature since November. I haven't driven her in several years except around the block once or twice due to all the things I haven't got around to fixing. In addition to constant tinkering to get such an over the top engine to run reliably, the suspension system is practically non-functional, the ball joints and bushings are original and totally shot etc. I rebuilt the break system about a decade ago, and obviously did a lot of work on the drivetrain over the last 15 years, but the steering and suspension are just plain scary. I replaced the rear suspension a dew years ago, but the front end is original and includes a broken coil spring as well as non-functional end links and shocks which are so far gone I can't get them out without a torch. When I was younger I was less weary and did all the idiotic burnouts, power-slides, and drifting maneuvers ( when it still had the solid rear axle), but now that I am older I don't particularly want to die in an explosion just driving to the local hotrod meet so she stays here for now and occasionally gets started and admired...
