Builder Destroys Hotel Lobby With Digger in Rampage Sparked by Pay Dispute

A builder working on the renovation of a Travelodge hotel in Liverpool, England, went on a rampage on January 21, destroying the hotel’s lobby with a digger. According to witnesses and coworkers, the man took the dramatic course of action due to a pay dispute involving £600 ($775) in wages. The BBC quoted a plasterer who said that the project was to be handed over on the day of the rampage, when workers had “put the last tile in, cleaned up and made sure everything was perfect”. In video captured by a coworker, people can be heard telling the man driving the digger that they would give him the £600 themselves.
