Chainmail Ring Vinegar Stripping

WARNING, THIS REACTION PRODUCES HYDROGEN GAS. DO NOT EXPOSE TO OPEN FLAME.

I start this process (after making the coil, not shown) by cutting all my rings from the coil. i usually watch a movie while i do this, this time it was Dragonslayer.
Once i have about a quart of cut rings i put them in a dedicated jug and add about a half gallon of regular vinegar from the grocery store.
The pickling process takes at least six hours to fully remove the zinc (because the wire is galvanized).
Once the vinegar starts to precipitate iron (its black), its just about done.
i dump out the vinegar and fully rinse all the rings and dry them with a towel.
The rings are now ready for welding!
