But the situation seems more serious than she explains in her narrative. Like me, maybe you are not familiar with her work, but that is irrelevant in understanding that we seem to be moving ever closer to a point where - without even installing the Chinese social credit system - the powers-that-should-not-be are gearing up to de-person anyone who does not play their authoritarian games. Stashing cash away as a defence against them blocking your bank account will become impossible in a cashless society as Laura points out. But the bigger question is why are they acting like this. What sort of dystopian society is being created by those who feel justified in blocking our access to resources without even informing us of any would-be justification? There can be no justification for such actions - but there can be an evil agenda.
