Jean-François Toussaint, born April 8, 1963 in Dunkirk, is a French doctor, professor of physiology at the University of Paris-Descartes. He is director of IRMES, Institute for Biomedical Research and Sports Epidemiology at INSEP, a former member of the High Council for Public Health, he is currently Review Editor for the next report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
He organized the Estates General on Prevention in 2006 on behalf of the Ministry of Health, drafted several reports and national prevention plans in the health and sports fields (new prevention strategies, PNAPS) and chaired the Expert Group “Sport, health and participation” of the European Commission.
Founder of the Adaptation and Prospective Group of the High Council for Public Health, he participates in the work of numerous health prospective committees in France (HCSP, INPES, National Academy of Medicine) with regard to emerging pathologies and adaptations to be expected. He was spokesperson for the French Federation of Cardiology for the Organization of States Generals of the Heart and participated in the orientation council of the Musée de l'Homme throughout its renovation.
He is currently Review Editor for the IPCC, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, member of the National Council for Ecological Transition and of the Scientific Council of the French Biodiversity Agency.
Jean-François Toussaint has published more than a hundred research articles, focusing in particular on vascular physiology and the detection of pathologies of the heart and vessels by the most recent non-invasive imaging techniques.
