Recorded in concerts and retake sessions on 4 and 5 April, 1990 in the Stiftsbasilika in Waldsassen.
(This was the only time Bernstein ever conducted the Great Mass. He was being distressed by lung cancer at the time of recording and filming. He died a few months later in New York City.)
