This shelter uses the living tree as the main starting structure without cutting it down. You add additional pine boughs to thicken up the sides and roof to keep out snow and wind. The temperature difference between inside and outside in the wind is noticeable but it won't have you sweating without a heat source. DO NOT build a campfire inside because sparks can cause the tree to light up like a match.
