NCS Dog Training Recall - Solid K9 Training (2019)

NCS (Non compliance stim) Recall with Jax. With NCS Recall the stim goes on at low levels when the dog doesn’t follow through with a command they have already been trained to do through escape conditioning or continuous stim (CS) (we have posted a video on this recently as well.) Jax is now under voice control for the recall command, and stim is only used when he does not comply—typically under higher distraction environments. The stim is a reminder for Jax to get him back on course when he gets side tracked. It’s important to note that it’s not punishment levels yet because we are still teaching Jax that he can avoid the stim by following through with the command. We are teaching dogs to shut off e collar pressure and we do this hundreds and hundreds of times before ever giving them a higher level correction. In the clip you see Jax smelling shoes and ignoring his recall, that’s the moment the stim goes on (low levels and we slowly dial up until we get the dogs attention.) Once he turns around and commits to his trainer the stim goes off. We like the dog to win more times then lose in a session, so more times without pressure than with. If we find the dog is constantly needing reminders with the remote at this stage, we know we need to lower the distractions and help the dog. You eventually see Jax recalled off of food without any pressure needed in the end.
