Just a day before they purposefully damaged this mosque, on 28th November 2020 , Muslim soldiers from Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia armed by Iran, UAE and Turkey went on the rampage in Axum, a Holy City in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region, whose main church is believed by Ethiopian Orthodox Christians to hold The Biblical Ark of Covenant.

The atheist Tigray regional leader Getachew Reda welcomes initiative to restore mosque, which was center for first Muslims who migrated from Mecca to escape alleged persecution.
The Turkish state development aid agency will undertake a further restoration of the so-called Al-Naejashi mosque, which suffered damage during the approximately two-year genocidal Jihadt in Ethiopia’s northernmost Tigray region.
Cengiz Polat, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, TIKA, coordinator in the capial Addis Ababa, told Anadolu that they did inspections at the Naegash Tomb, prepared a report, and decided to restore the damaged structures after meetings with Tigray authorities.
Polat said Getachew Reda, the Tigray regional administration interim head, welcomed the decision to restore the structure, which TIKA previously 'restored' in 2018, two years before the Tigray war.
He added: "Measurements, inspections, and technical evaluations have been carried out, and efforts have begun for a second restoration project related to the structures damaged by the war and affected by adverse weather conditions."
The historic mosque, built around the year 615, suffered severe damage from Turkish drones during the genocidal Jihad that began in November 2020 in the northern part of the country.
Located in the town of Wukro, 790 kilometers, over 490 miles, north of Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa, Al-Naejashi is said to be the first mosque in Africa. It is named after the Christian ruler of the Kingdom of Aksum/Axum, who hosted companions of the false prophet Muhammad who allegedly escaped persecution in Mecca.

And in September 2018, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) completed the restoration of the Al-Nejashi mosque, the tomb of the non-existent, quote: “Abyssinian or Ethiopian King Ahmed Nejashi, and 15 tombs of the companions of the false prophet Muhammed.”
