I need more of God and less of me #beinghuman #followingjesus
I want to share with you a passage from the Bible that has been challenging me lately. It's Philippians 2:5–11, where Paul tells us to have the same attitude as Jesus, who humbled himself and became obedient to death on the cross. He did not care about his reputation, but emptied himself and took on the form of a servant. He did this out of love for God and for us. Isn't that worthy of praise? 😍
Philippians 2:5–11:
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Paul says that we should follow Jesus' example and not be concerned with our reputation, but with God's glory. We should not be proud or selfish, but humble and selfless. We should not seek our own interests, but the interests of others. We should not be competitive or divisive, but cooperative and serving. We should not be arrogant or boastful, but respectful and grateful. 🙌
I don't know about you, but I find this challenging. I often care too much about what people think of me, and not enough about what God thinks of me. I often compare myself with others, and not with Jesus. I need God's grace and power to transform my attitude. I need God's Spirit and Word to renew my mind and heart. I need God's voice to guide my steps and actions. 🙏
How about you? Do you value having this attitude of Jesus? Do you want to be free from the pressure of reputation management, and live for the approval and praise of God? If so, let's pray ..
