President Trump On Border & Shutdown 1/2/19 - Full Meeting
President Donald Trump held an extensive press pool spray with White House reporters on Wednesday, during which he dismissed the recent turbulence in the stock market as a “glitch.” Investors have been on edge since the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 both experienced major fluctuations in the last few days. Data from Wall Street shows that stocks finished in 2018 with the worst showing they’ve seen in a decade, but Trump is calling this a “little” disruption that will correct itself once he’s done renegotiating America’s trade deals.
Trump: Prepared To Keep Government Shut Down "As Long As It Takes" At his first cabinet meeting of 2019, President Trump said that in order to secure funding for the border wall he is willing to keep government partially shut down for "as long as it takes."
"I'm here, I want to do it right," Trump said.
DONALD TRUMP: A wall is a wall. The others just, we could have all the drones flying over the people last night, the only thing that stops them is a wall. If we had drones, wonderful, we'll get nice pictures...
QUESTION: How long are you going to keep government shut down?
TRUMP: As long as it takes. I mean look, I'm prepared. I think the people of this country think I am right. Again, I could have had a lot easier presidency by doing nothing, but I'm here, I want to do it right.
Pres Trump is calling the 2018 plunge on Wall Street as "a little glitch," even as stocks finished 2018 with the worst showing in a decade. He predicts markets will soar after US trade deals are complete. President Donald Trump bsted Mitt Romney again to reporters at today’s lengthy Cabinet meeting, in response to the incoming Utah senator’s op-ed seriously criticizing the President’s lack of character. Trump again said Romney should “be more of a team player,” saying, “I endorsed him. He thanked me profusely. Very nice. But I am surprised.” Trump defended his record in office so far before coming back to Romney, claiming he has “great popularity in Utah,’ and even getting in this 2012 jab:
“I will say this. If he fought really hard against President Obama like he does against me, he would have won the election. Does that make sense to you? If he fought the way he fights me, I’m telling you, he would have won the election. But I think he’s going to end up being a team player. I think he agrees with many of the things that we’ve done and many of the things that we have in mind. We’ll see what happens.”
In a long and news-making Q&A with reporters after his remarks at a Cabinet meeting at the White House, President Donald Trump addressed the issues
During a White House cabinet meeting Wednesday, Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker praised President Donald Trump for “giving up” Christmas and New Year’s holidays “while some members of Congress went on vacation.”
