Might & Magic III - Isles of Terra is an dungeon-crawling RPG. It was originally developed and released by New World Computing for PC. It was later ported to Amiga, Macintosh, FM Towns, NEC PC-98, Sega Mega CD, SNES and Turbografx CD/ PC-Engine CD. The Mega Drive/ Genesis port was seemingly done by New World Computing themselves and planned to be released by Pony Canyon.
The story continues where part 2 had ended. After a group adventurers helped the guardian Corak to prevent the world of CRON from destruction by the corrupted guardian Sheltem. Now Sheltem has fled to his home world of Terra, with Corak and the adventurers going after him.
The game is played from a first-person perspective. Moving is stepwise with 90-degree turns. You control a party of six characters. There is a pre-made party for a quick start, but you can create new characters at an inn and replace any member of your party. The party can be extended to eight characters by hiring mercenaries. Mercenaries require a daily wage (which increases with the level of the characters) and will leave the party if it's not payed.
Combat is turn-based. You can face up to three enemies in melee combat. Enemies behind the first line can still attack you with spells.
