Arminius: Hero of Germania

Arminius was raised as a hostage in Rome…his father was chief of the Cherusci tribe, which allied itself with Rome and Arminius was sent there as a pledge of loyalty. The Romans raised him to be a great warrior, which also taught Arminius to react to their battle tactics correctly when the trap in Teutoborg Forest was sprung.
This situation is similar to Stefan the Great of Romania, who was sent to the Turkish Sultan as a hostage by his father, and raised as a janisary, only to return to Romania, become king and defeat the Turks because he was aware of exactly how they fought…
There has got to be a few Arminius and Stefan’s in the United States military…where are you boys? We need you now!
