Nancy Pelosi says her father was a 'shabbos goy' who spoke Yiddish and her grandchildren are Jewish.

Nancy Pelosi says her father, Thomas D'Alesandro Jr., was a shabbos goy who spoke Yiddish. A shabbos goy is a non-Jew appointed by Jews to do their work for them on the Sabbath. Shabbos means Sabbath. According to the Talmud, goy is a derogatory term for non-Jews, meaning beast or subhuman. Yiddish is a Jewish language. Pelosi says her father therefore grew up with a vision of an Israeli state in what was then called Palestine.

Her father and brother both became the mayor of Baltimore. Her brother is as much a Zionist as her father. The Jews built a stadium in Haifa, Israel, dedicated to her father.

Pelosi says she has more Jewish grandchildren than anyone in Congress.
