Vampire - Master of Darkness (1992, Game Gear)

Vampire - Master of Darkness, known as In The Wake of Vampire in Japan and simply Master of Darkness in Europe, is a Castlevania-like platformer by SIMS and released by Sega. A Master System version was released in Europe and Brazil.
The story is set in London in the 19th century. Gruesome murders happen every full moon. Ferdinand Social, a young psychologist and investigator of the paranormal, believes that tghe murders have a supernatural cause. He receives a message while using his board, which warns him of Dracula and urges him to go investigating at the river Thamse.
Master of Darkness plays very similar to the original Castlevania. You go through linear levels, which are divided into several round and segments. You have primary weapon for close combat, and a more long-range secondary weapon. The latter can only be used a limited number of times. Weapons and other items can be found by smashing masks. Unlike Castlevania, secondary come with fixed stock of ammo, which adds up if you collector the same weapons several times. You do not collect something similar to the hearts in Castlevania which serve as general ammo for the secondary weapon. Moreover, there are several primary weapons with different advantages and disadvantages. For example, the sabre has a large range and is very quick to use, while the axe does a lot of damage, but is slow and more limited in range.
