With all that is going on in the world I just wanted to share some of my views on being self sufficient and some of the (expensive) mistakes that can be avoided along the way. I have personally lived off grid and sold many of these different types …

The four types of generators you should consider are:
#1 Whole house backup with transfer switch - Very expensive to do correctly (usually starts at about 5 to 7k)
#2 Mixed Use - Such as a welder/generator combination. Usually best for people in the trades who use the generator part sparingly
#3 Standard Generator - Usually much more power than needed, eats lots of fuel, very noisy......and great for jobsites or commercial use
#4 Inverter Generator - Great for Camping, extended power outages, offgrid living, uses only a little fuel, very quiet, compact size

#4 Is my personal recommendation for most of us ;-)
