I reached out to Sir Roger Scruton (who recently left us after a battle with cancer) via email quite a few years back, and he was kind enough to write back. I wrote about that experience recently a little in Dappled Things, which I'd love you to read in full here:

Aside from the few short exchanges, his work was deeply formative for me as an artist, likely playing a large role in stoking my courage to continue on the way of authenticity and beauty in my craft rather than chasing the dictates of modern popular culture. I am deeply grateful.
