The Kármán line, also known as the von Kármán line, is an IMAGINARY boundary that defines the boundary between Earth's atmosphere and inner space. It is located approximately 100 kilometers (62 miles) above sea level. This boundary is named after Theodore von Kármán, a Hungarian-American physicist and engineer who was one of the first scientists to calculate the altitude at which the atmosphere becomes too thin due to the density layering to support aerodynamic flight. The containment is considerably further than the Kármán line.
